What My Audition Hit-Rate Taught Me After 16 Years of Acting

I’ve always heard the same stat: you’ll book 1 in 10 auditions. It gets repeated so often it starts to feel like a rule. But no one really shows you the numbers behind it.
So I did.

I’ve tracked every audition I’ve had since 2009: 380 in total - across film, TV, and commercials.
My overall hit rate came out to 9.2%, which is surprisingly close to that famous “1-in-10” idea.

But the percentage alone doesn’t tell the full story.

The work wasn’t evenly spread out. Some years were busy, others were painfully quiet. Some bookings meant one day on set. Others meant months of work. And some of the opportunities that helped my career, didn’t even come from auditions.

Looking at the numbers changed how I see slow periods, success, and what actually moves a career forward.

If you want to see the full breakdown, the graphs, and the key takeaways for actors trying to make sense of their own progress, watch the full video here.

Do actors really book 1-in-10 auditions? I tracked every audition I’ve had for TV, film, and commercials over the last 16 years to find out what the real acting industry odds look like.
